Mizzou basketball lands second commitment of 2021 recruiting class in Alabama guard

The Missouri Tigers landed their second commitment of their 2021 recruiting class — and it’s a pledge they know well.

Kaleb Brown, a 6-foot-6 guard from Huntsville, Alabama, announced his commitment Monday He is current Mizzou forward Kobe Brown’s younger brother. Kaleb is unranked nationally by both 247Sports and Rivals but held offers from other high-major schools Minnesota and West Virginia.

Kaleb will join Mizzou alongside Springfield’s Anton Brookshire, the Tigers’ first committed 2021 recruit. Brookshire is a 6-foot guard and ranked the No. 144 recruit in the country, according to 247Sports.

Kobe, who enters his sophomore season with Mizzou, posted a solid freshman season in which he played in 30 games with 26 starts. He averaged 5.8 points and 3.7 rebounds and carved out a consistent role in Martin’s rotation.

Kobe is projected to battle for minutes at the forward positions on what’s shaping up to be a deep Mizzou roster.

The Tigers will lose a wealth of talent after this season — especially at guard. Senior guards Dru Smith, Mark Smith and Drew Buggs will exhaust their eligibility, and there’s a chance Xavier Pinson declares early for the pros after testing the waters this offseason.

Mizzou and Martin will be in the market for guards during this recruiting cycle, and they’ve picked up two pieces already.
