A Missouri Tigers pitcher and MU high school signee were among players drafted Thursday

Missouri Tigers pitcher Ian Bedell could have a new home to the east on I-70, selected No. 122 overall Thursday by St. Louis in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB draft.

Should Bedell sign with the Cardinals, he’ll be staying in-state after his stint with Mizzou and coach Steve Bieser.

Bedell posted a 3.70 ERA in 24.1 innings in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to the season. He was rated the No. 88 prospect in MLB.com’s pre-draft rankings. He was attractive to teams because of his youth and command of his pitches, which allowed him to “attack hitters with confidence,” according to MLB.com.

Bedell wasn’t the only player associated with the Tigers to be selected in this year’s shortened five-round draft.

Mizzou signee Isaiah Greene from Corona High in California was picked No. 62 overall by the New York Mets in Thursday’s second round. An outfielder described as athletic, MLB.com projects that he’ll stick in center field because of his plus speed and formidable, if raw, tools.

Greene was ranked as the No. 62 overall prospect by MLB.com.
