Mizzou football lands Florida defensive back as ninth member of 2021 recruiting class

Missouri Tigers coach Eliah Drinkwitz is spreading his recruiting footprint to the southeast, on Wednesday picking up a defensive back from Melbourne, Florida.

Newly pledged Davion Sistrunk announced his verbal commitment to Mizzou via Twitter, becoming the ninth recruit to join Drinkwitz’s class of 2021. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound defensive back also held offers from a number of power-conference programs, including Oklahoma, Penn State, Illinois and USC.

Sistrunk joins a recruiting class that continues to grow — and climb the national rankings. Drinkwitz has stressed that he wants to recruit within state borders but he’s also gone out of state for his last couple of pledges.

Here are the other eight members of Mizzou’s class of 2021:

  • Four-star defensive end Travion Ford (St. Louis)
  • Three-star running back Taj Butts (St. Louis)
  • Three-star offensive lineman Connor Tollison (Jackson)
  • Three-star quarterback Tyler Macon (East St. Louis)
  • Three-star tight end Gavin McKay (Memphis)
  • Three-star cornerback Darius Jackson (Red Oak, Texas)
  • Three-star tight end Ryan Hoerstkamp (Washington)
  • Three-star defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo (St. Louis)
