Mizzou basketball lands class of ’21 commitment from three-star guard from Springfield

The Missouri Tigers recorded the first verbal commitment for their basketball class of 2021 Thursday in the form of three-star guard Anton Brookshire, who announced his decision via Twitter.

Brookshire, a Kickapoo High guard from Springfield, is ranked as the No. 161 prospect in the country, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot, 155-pound guard also had offers from Missouri State, UNLV and Bradley. And he had drawn interest from Kansas State and Iowa State, among other power-conference programs.

Mizzou coach Cuonzo Martin is starting to build what’s expected to be a significant recruiting class of 2021. As the Tigers’ roster is currently constructed, they’ll graduate some key seniors after next season. That means replacing substantial production.

Brookshire’s commitment is the first step in doing so.
