Mizzou football, Drinkwitz earn massive commitment from four-star recruit Travion Ford

The Missouri Tigers and new coach Eliah Drinkwitz have landed what may be their biggest football commitment to date.

Four-star defensive end Travion Ford of Lutheran North High School announced Thursday via Twitter that he’s heading to Columbia as Drinkwitz’s seventh pledge in the Tigers’ incoming class of 2021. Ford is the 149th-ranked recruit in the nation, according to 247Sports, and was garnering interest from major programs like Alabama, Florida State and Ohio State.

“I am a True Son,” Ford said in a Twitter video. “M-I-Z, Z-O-U.”

Ford represents another major recruiting victory in the St. Louis area. Of the Tigers’ seven verbal commitments, five hail from within state borders, with another coming from just across the border with Illinois in East St. Louis.

Ford is the second defensive player landed in this class for Mizzou, joining defensive end and St. Louis native Mekhi Wingo. The other members of the class are quarterback Tyler Macon (East St. Louis), offensive lineman Connor Tollison (Jackson, Missouri), tight end Gavin McKay (Memphis), tight end Ryan Hoerstkamp (Washington, Missouri) and running back Taj Butts (St. Louis).

With Ford in the fold, Drinkwitz and his staff are creeping up the national recruiting rankings. Mizzou is now ranked No. 27 nationally by both Rivals and 247Sports for its class of 2021.
