Basketball score: Mizzou Tigers land transfer Ed Chang, a 6-foot-8 sharpshooting wing

After shopping the market hard for NCAA transfers the past few weeks, Missouri men’s basketball coach Cuonzo Martin has landed one: Salt Lake Community College transfer Ed Chang.

Chang made the announcement Thursday on Twitter.

Chang last season put up averages of 8.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. He started his career at San Diego State, where he played in 13 games with the Aztecs two seasons ago.

There is one main area of Chang’s game that should entice Mizzou fans: shooting. Chang shot 41.2% on three-pointers last season in 114 attempts, which will be an immediate boost for the Tigers. Mizzou shot an anemic 29.7% from behind the arc last season.

Chang, a 6-foot-8 forward who will likely play primarily on the wing, will have two years of eligibility remaining. He’s available to play this coming season.

Mizzou still has one scholarship remaining as Martin looks to add more pieces to his 2020-21 squad.

The good news about Chang comes after Mizzou was a finalist for three transfers who each decided to enroll elsewhere or, in the case of one, stay put.
