Mizzou football adds Rutgers grad transfer, loses running back to transfer portal

The Missouri Tigers and MU coach Eliah Drinkwitz added and lost a piece on offense on Friday.

Former Rutgers center Michael Maietti announced on his Twitter page he’s committing to the Tigers as a graduate transfer. He is immediately eligible for the 2020 season. A three-time academic All-Big Ten member, Maietti started 33 games in the past three seasons for the Scarlet Knights and should bolster Mizzou’s offensive line.

Maietti’s commitment is the second graduate transfer Drinkwitz has added to the program, with both players on offense. The Tigers signed former Virginia Tech wide receiver Damon Hazelton, who was able to practice with the team during spring ball before it was shut down because of the coronavirus pandemic.

As for departures, Mizzou running back Anthony Watkins has entered the transfer portal, a team spokesperson confirmed to The Star. The Fort Worth, Texas, native saw action in one game in 2019, rushing on six carries for 19 yards.
