Mizzou basketball in the SEC Tournament: Tigers’ path, the bracket, schedule and TV
The Missouri Tigers are the No. 10 seed in the SEC Tournament.
After defeating Alabama in the regular season finale, the Tigers awaited their fate. They were still in play for the No. 10 seed but needed other results to go their way. After Arkansas lost and forced a two-way tiebreaker at 7-11 in SEC play, the Tigers had the advantage.
The Tigers start the SEC Tournament playing No. 7 seed Texas A&M at 6 p.m. Thursday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Mizzou was 0-2 against the Aggies this season. The last time the two teams played, Texas A&M blew out Mizzou 68-51 in College Station, Texas.
But Mizzou was without a full roster in both games, missing key pieces Jeremiah Tilmon and Mark Smith. MU guard Xavier Pinson also had not become a key offensive weapon for the Tigers.
If the Tigers defeat the Aggies on Thursday, then they have a quarterfinal game against No. 2 Auburn at 6 p.m. Friday. MU already downed Auburn 85-73 at Mizzou Arena.
From there, if the Tigers can pull off back-to-back wins in Nashville, they’ll be in the second semifinal, which tips off around 2:25 p.m. Saturday. An appearance in the conference finals could boost them into the NIT. And, of course, winning the SEC Tournament means an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
