About Mississippi State (9-6, 0-3 SEC): The Bulldogs are off to a brutal start in SEC play. They dropped a heartbreaker 60-59 to LSU last time out, losing on a buzzer-beater. Mississippi State is led by forward Reggie Perry, who scores 15.5 points per game. Nick Weatherspoon also returned from a 10-game suspension, giving the Bulldogs another scoring threat. KenPom has the Bulldogs at No. 59.

About Missouri (9-6, 1-2 SEC): The Tigers were explosive in a 91-75 win over the Florida Gators last time out. It was a breath of fresh air after a stagnant offense struggled in Mizzou’s opening two SEC games. They bounced back well in their second game without forward Jeremiah Tilmon, who’s nursing a stress fracture in his left foot. Dru Smith and Mark Smith are starting to find their groove as SEC play heats up. KenPom ranks Mizzou at No. 54.

Prediction: The Bulldogs are slipping further away from a chance at the NCAA Tournament, which means their game against Mizzou will be vital. Limiting another big man in Perry will be another tough task for the Tigers, especially without Tilmon. We’ll say Mizzou turned a corner offensively in its last game out against Florida. There were bits and pieces of the offense that looked sustainable, which is a great long-term outlook.

Missouri 68, Mississippi State 61
