Mizzou’s Jeremiah Tilmon has stress fracture and won’t play vs. Tennessee

Missouri Tigers forward Jeremiah Tilmon is out indefinitely because of a stress fracture in his left foot, according to a team spokesperson, forcing him to miss the Tigers’ Tuesday night game against Tennessee at Mizzou Arena.

Tilmon was dealing with a right foot injury leading up to the game vs. the Vols. He was kept out of the Chicago State win on Dec. 30 and did not start in Mizzou’s SEC opener, a loss to Kentucky. While Tilmon played against the Wildcats, he came off the bench and only played eight minutes, though foul trouble also kept him off the court.

There is no timetable for Tilmon’s return.

Tilmon is averaging 9.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in 12 games this season.

In Tilmon’s absence, forward Reed Nikko will likely take over starting duties. He started against Chicago State and Kentucky. Forwards Mitchell Smith, Parker Braun and Axel Okongo will also likely see an uptick in playing time.

The Tigers entered Tuesday 8-5 and 0-1 in the SEC. After their game against Tennessee, they host Florida at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Mizzou Arena.
