About Charleston Southern (2-5): The Buccaneers halted a five-game losing streak last time out, when they defeated Delaware State. But it’s been a difficult year for Charleston Southern. They’ve played ranked teams this year in No. 11 Michigan State and No. 19 Dayton, so the Buccaneers will be battle-tested in terms of road environments. They’re led by guard Dontrell Shuler, who averages 18.8 points per game. KenPom ranks them 312th of 353 teams.
About Missouri (4-3): The Tigers took a punch in the gut at the Hall of Fame Classic last week, going 0-2 in losses to Butler and Oklahoma. Slow starts have been problematic for this team. There’s plenty of talent among Dru Smith, Mark Smith and Jeremiah Tilmon, all in double figures for scoring. Mizzou will need some solid wins if it wants to compete for an NCAA Tournament bid.
Prediction: Tuesday’s game should be an easy bounce-back for Mizzou against what isn’t a great Charleston Southern team. Keep an eye out if the Buccaneers stick around in the early parts, signifying another slow start. We’ll say Mizzou wins and by a decent amount, the defense having a suffocating night facing an inferior opponent.
