MU catcher Brett Bond is the SEC freshman of the week
Missouri catcher Brett Bond was chosen Monday as the SEC freshman of the week after leading the Tigers in average, hits, doubles, RBIs and total bases during four games last week.
Bond, a St. Louis native, caught all four games. It’s his first weekly conference award and the first time any Missouri player has earned freshman of the week.
Four Tigers hurlers have earned weekly SEC pitcher of the week awards this season.
Bond batted .467, including a home run and two doubles, with eight RBIs last week. He leads MU with a .312 average on the season.
The No. 21 Tigers return to action at 6 p.m. Thursday against Southeast Missouri at Taylor Stadium in Columbia.
