ABOUT TENNESSEE (12-4, 3-2): Rick Barnes’ squad has been the surprise team in the SEC this season. The Vols are ranked 21st in the nation and just knocked off a veteran Texas A&M squad on Saturday. … The 1-2 punch of Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield — two of the conference’s leading scorers — averages about 36 points per game. … The Volunteers already have a great resume for the NCAA Tournament with non-conference wins over Clemson, Purdue and Wake Forest. … Missouri senior Jordan Barnett played for Barnes his freshman year at Texas and said the Vols will be active in the post, since that was something Barnes preached when Barnett played for him.

ABOUT MISSOURI (12-5, 2-2): For the first time in his coaching career, Cuonzo Martin will face a program he once coached. … Martin’s Missouri squad returns to the floor after a heartbreaking loss at Arkansas that saw the Tigers rally from as many as 18 down in the first half only to squander a late lead and lose the game. Graduate transfer Kassius Robertson had a career-high 26 points in a Missouri uniform against the Hogs, which included six three-pointers. … Freshman Jontay Porter appears to be in the starting lineup for the near future since Martin said Saturday that he’s played well enough recently to justify it. … Both Porter and freshman Jeremiah Tilmon fouled out against Arkansas and had a pair of offensive fouls late in the game that did Missouri no favors as it tried to hang onto the lead. … Missouri hit 11 threes against Arkansas and currently leads the conference in three-point field-goal percentage at 39.4 percent.
