Missouri 50, Tennessee 17: Key moments, players and grades

Keys to the game

Key players: Missouri running backs Ish Witter and Larry Rountree combined for 371 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Tennessee entered the game with one of the worst run defenses in the country and Missouri took full advantage. Despite the absence of sophomore running back Damarea Crockett, the duo of Witter and Rountree have allowed Missouri’s offense to not miss a beat.

Key moment: Drew Lock connected with Emanuel Hall for a 50-yard touchdown 4 minutes into the third quarter to give Missouri a 31-17 lead. Until then, the Volunteers had been hanging with the Tigers and were making enough plays to keep the defense on its heels. Lock’s pass to Hall put the score out of reach and all but secured the Tigers’ fourth-straight win.

Grades

Offense: A

Drew Lock had a bad interception early in the game and didn’t have his completion percentage as high as it’s been in weeks past. Emanuel Hall had a few drops that could have turned into big gains or touchdowns. But Witter and Rountree were spectacular and Hall added a pair of touchdowns. Lock threw for four touchdowns and 217 yards. Once again, the starters were able to rest for the majority of the fourth quarter after putting up more than 40 points for the fourth straight game.

Defense: A

The defense kept its opponent under 20 points for the third straight week and had a pair of interceptions. Marcell Frazier led a pass rush that combined for four sacks, two of which came courtesy of the 6-foot-5 senior defensive end. Senior safety Anthony Sherrils had another strong week with a forced fumble and recovery and an interception.

Special Teams: B+

Tucker McCann was perfect on field goal attempts and appears to be a reliable kicker for Missouri. He had an extra point blocked, and neither Richaud Floyd nor Rountree were real factors in the return game.
