Mizzou starting wide receiver no longer with football program
Missouri sophomore wide receiver Dimetrios Mason is no longer with the football team, sources confirmed Saturday.
PowerMizzou.com first reported the news.
Mason has started all four of the Tigers’ games this season and was their second-leading receiver with 13 catches. He was third on the team with 119 yards. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Mason was dismissed for disciplinary reasons.
Mason, who is from Loganville, Ga., broke Missouri true freshman records with 47 catches and 587 yards last year. He scored three touchdowns. He was rated as a three-star recruit by 247Sports.com and a two-star prospect by Rivals.com.
As a sophomore, he had joined J’Mon Moore and Johnathon Johnson in the starting lineup. That spot is likely to fall now to Emanuel Hall, who has five catches for 104 yards this season.
The Tigers (1-3) are on a bye week before traveling to play Kentucky on Oct. 7 in their first road trip of the season. MU coach Barry Odom will speak to reporters at his weekly news conference Monday.
