Missouri gymnastics qualified for NCAA regional competition for the first time since 2012.

The Tigers, who finished seventh among eight teams Saturday at the SEC championships, will compete April 4 at the University of Oklahoma as one of six teams selected for the Norman regional.

Missouri, which is making its 25th regional appearance overall, is the fifth seed behind the host Sooners, No. 2 Oregon State, No. 3 Penn State and No. 4 Southern Utah.

North Carolina State is the sixth seed in the regional.

The two top teams will advance to the NCAA gymnastics national championships April 17-19 in Fort Worth along with the two all-around competitors from non-qualifying teams.

Individual event winners on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise also qualify for nationals if they are not on a team receiving an automatic berth.

Southeast Missouri’s Ashley Thomas was an individual regional qualifier in the all-around.
