Missouri’s SEC men’s basketball schedule is announced
Missouri will play national powerhouse Kentucky twice during the 2014-15 men’s basketball season, but the rest of the schedule seems relatively favorable for coach Kim Anderson’s first season.
The Tigers won’t have to play at Florida, LSU or Tennessee, and the Tigers do not play more than two consecutive road games.
Both of the meetings with Kentucky come early in the conference slate, which was announced Friday.
The Tigers play at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky., on Jan. 13, a game that will be featured on ESPN’s Super Tuesday.
The Wildcats return to Mizzou Arena for a second consecutive season for a 8 p.m. tipoff on Jan. 29 on ESPN.
Missouri also plays a home-and-away against rival Arkansas — Jan. 24 at Mizzou Arena and Feb. 18 in Fayetteville, Ark. — as well as against Auburn, Texas A&M and Mississippi State during the upcoming season.
The Tigers’ home schedule also includes Mississippi, while the road schedule features games at Alabama, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Georgia.
Missouri plays five games on ESPN or ESPN2, including home games against LSU, Arkansas, Kentucky and Florida.
The remaining games, except Jan. 31 against Mississippi on Fox Sports Net, are slated for the SEC Network or ESPNU.
Although Missouri hasn’t finalized its nonconference schedule, some of its early season games are known.
Kim Anderson’s regular-season debut as the Tigers’ coach will be on Friday, Nov. 14 against UMKC at Mizzou Arena. MU also will play Arizona at the Maui Invitational on Nov. 24 and the Tigers could face former conference foe Kansas State the next day.
Mizzou also will play Oklahoma State on Dec. 30 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. The Tigers’ SEC schedule starts Jan. 8 against LSU in Columbia.
