Missouri bolstered its future backfield Friday, landing a verbal commitment from Larry Rountree III, a Rivals.com three-star running back from Millbrook High in Raleigh, N.C.

Rountree announced his decision in a slick post from the Millbrook Athletics’ Twitter account.

“It’s taken a lot of hard work to get to today …,” Roundtree said in the video. “All it came down to was finding the right fit. Show me the road to Mizzou, and I will show you what I can do. Go Tigers.”

Rountree racked up 201 carries for 1,147 yards, including five 100-yard games, with 21 touchdowns in 11 games, according to Millbrook’s Maxpreps.com page.

He also averaged 33.8 yards on 10 kickoff returns, including two for touchdowns.

On film, Rountree is an upright runner with breakaway speed, elusiveness and physicality at the point of attack, unafraid to challenge defenders for extra yardage.

Rountree, who visited Mizzou last weekend, is the third commitment this week — joining a pair of junior college defensive linemen, ASA College tackle Rashad Brandon and New Mexico Military Institute end Nate Anderson.

With the addition of Rountree, Mizzou’s 2017 recruiting class stands at 17 players and ranks 39th nationally, according to Rivals. He is the first known commitment at running back.

Rountree will join a backfield that includes Damarea Crockett, who will be a sophomore, and Ish Witter, who will be a senior.
