Missouri women’s basketball cruises by Missouri State

The Missouri women’s basketball team closed out a two-game home stand with a victory over Missouri State.

The Tigers beat the Bears 73-49 on Friday night in Columbia.

MU has now won 28 straight home nonconference games.

Guard Sophie Cunningham had a big game for the Tigers on Friday. She had 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists with just one turnover. Cunningham made 9 of 14 shots from the field.

She had plenty of help as Sierra Michaelis (15), Cierra Porter (13) and Lindsey Cunning (13) also scored in double figures.

Liza Fruendt led Missouri State with 22 points. Fruendt came in averaging 14 points per game.

Missouri improved to 6-2 on the season, while Missouri State dropped to 2-5.

Missouri takes on IUPUI in Indianapolis on Sunday. Missouri State plays at Tulsa on Wednesday.
