No. 25 Mizzou volleyball outlasts No. 5 Florida to keep SEC title hopes alive

With its realistic hopes for a Southeastern Conference volleyball title on the line, No. 25 Missouri outlasted No. 5 Florida in five sets Sunday at the Hearnes Center in Columbia.

Senior outside hitter Carly Kan totaled a match-best 25 kills with 21 digs and hit an impressive .328 with only four errors on 64 total attacks in pacing a 25-18, 23-25, 25-15, 21-25, 15-10 win for the Tigers.

Junior outside hitter Melanie Crow, a transfer from Mississippi, added 20 kills, while sophomore middle blocker Alyssa Munlyn finished with a match-high nine blocks.

Junior setter Courtney Eckenrode added 59 assists with 14 digs and senior defensive specialist Alexa Ethridge chipped in 20 digs for Mizzou, which is 23-5 overall and 14-2 in conference.

The Tigers and Gators, 24-3, are tied for second in the SEC, a half-game behind Kentucky.

The Wildcats, 22-6 and 15-2 in the SEC, wrap up the season Wednesday at Tennessee (ESPNU).

Also Wednesday, Missouri, which won the 2013 SEC crown, is at Georgia and Florida hosts Auburn.

Next Saturday, the Tigers wrap up the regular season at home against Tennessee and the Gators travel to Arkansas.
