Missouri’s Clark Thomas shines at SEC championships
Missouri junior Clark Thomas snagged two top-five finishes, including a runner-up showing on the three-meter springboard during this week’s SEC Swimming and Diving Championships at Auburn University.
Thomas, an Olathe Northwest graduate, sat in third place after Thursday’s preliminary round in the three-meter springboard after qualifying with a score of 403.15.
He stepped up his performance in the final, finishing with a personal-best 436.50 that included the highest-scoring dive of the competition, a 91.80 on his third dive.
Thomas’ score ranks second in Tigers history, moving him ahead of former All-American Greg DeStephen.
Thomas sat in third place before his final dive, but moved up with an 85-point gem.
On Tuesday, Thomas posted the best preliminary score in the one-meter springboard competition with a 385.30. He finished fifth after recording a 371.05 in the final.
