Missouri claims five top-five finishes in pool at SEC championships
Missouri’s men’s and women’s swim teams collected five top-five finishes Friday during the fourth day of SEC Swimming and Diving Championships, which wrap up Saturday at Auburn University.
Senior Sam Tierney finished second in the men’s 100-yard breaststroke in 51.64 seconds. He was 0.13 seconds behind Georgia senior Nicolas Fink.
Tierney had the top preliminary time and broke his own school record in the even by 0.04 seconds.
Tigers sophomore Katharine Ross and junior Abby Duncan snagged fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke.
The MU women’s 400 medley relay also snagged fourth place and freshman Hannah Stevens swam to fifth place in the 100 backstroke.
Senior Mack Darragh and freshman Sharli Brady also notched school records in the 200 butterfly with victories in the consolation final, effectively a ninth-place finish.
Darragh finished in 1:42.56 and Brady swam a 1:55.88. Both times would have placed seventh in the A final.
