DIRECTV picks up SEC Network
Another major carrier is in place for the SEC Network. DIRECTV, the nation’s largest satellite provider, announced Monday that it will carry the network dedicated to Southeastern Conference sports.
With most of the nation’s major cable companies and satellite providers on board, the SEC Network will debut on Aug. 14 in about 87 million households, according to ESPN, the network’s owner.
DIRECTV has about 20 million subscribers in the United States.
The first football game on the new network is Aug. 28, when Texas A&M visits South Carolina. Every SEC football team will have made at least one appearance in the SEC Network in the season’s first month.
Missouri’s debut on the network is Sept. 13, when Central Florida visits Columbia for an 11 a.m. kickoff.
