If the media that covers the SEC is to be believed, it will be a bad season for the Missouri football team.

Mizzou was picked to finish sixth in the SEC Eastern Division in the preseason media poll, and it was one of two schools that didn’t receive a first-place vote (Kentucky was the other).

Tennessee was the pick to win the East, and it wasn’t a close vote. The Volunteers received 2,167 points (225 first-place votes), well ahead of Florida (1,891 points and 57 first-place votes) and Georgia (1,860 points, 45 first-place votes).

Mizzou, which is coming off a 5-7 season (1-7 in conference), received 807 points, just seven ahead of last-place South Carolina.

Defending national champion Alabama was the choice in the SEC Western Division. The Crimson Tide received 2,220 points (246 first-place votes), while LSU was second 1,984 points (246 first-place votes).

Alabama was also the pick to win the SEC title, receiving 223 votes, while LSU was second (59).
