MIDWEST REGION

At Chicago

▪ No. 1 Virginia vs. No. 10 Syracuse

Sunday at 5:09 p.m., TBS

In its ACC history, Syracuse has defeated every conference team except Virginia (0-3). The Cavaliers are one of the nation’s top defensive teams, but they’re proving to be powerful on the offensive end. They defeated Iowa State 84-71 in the Sweet 16, shooting 56 percent. Forward Anthony Gill came up big with 23 points and is averaging 21 during the NCAA Tournament. Virginia beat Syracuse 73-65 on Jan. 24, the team’s lone meeting. In the Sweet 16, the Orange overcame a nine-point deficit in the second half against Gonzaga, making all the big plays down the stretch and fueled by their full-court pressure. Virginia is bidding for its first Final Four appearance since 1984. Syracuse and Coach Jim Boeheim last reached the Final Four in 2014.

Pick: Virginia 77-65

EAST REGION

At Philadelphia

▪ No. 1 North Carolina vs. No. 6 Notre Dame

Sunday at 7:49 p.m., TBS

The second game of the ACC doubleheader pits the Tar Heels against the Fighting Irish. North Carolina’s 101-86 victory over Indiana in the Sweet 16 was one of the most impressive performances of the tournament. The Tar Heels cranked up the offense early, getting four early three-pointers from Marcus Paige, and never let up. Notre Dame, led by Demetrius Jackson, overcame a late deficit to get past Wisconsin. The Irish and Tar Heels meet for the third time this season, with Notre Dame winning at home 80-76 and North Carolina cruising in the ACC Tournament semifinals 78-47.

Pick: North Carolina 88-75
