SMU coach says Kentucky fit for NBA playoffs

Southern Methodist University and Kentucky are at the same NCAA Tournament site, although not in the same regional. Still, that didn’t stop somebody from asking Mustangs coach Larry Brown about the undefeated Wildcats.

“I think they’d honestly make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference if they were in the NBA,” Brown said.

Perhaps Brown was smiling on the inside when he said this. He did his former assistant coach, Kentucky’s John Calipari, no favors with the comparison. Calipari was a graduate assistant for Brown at Kansas.

But who better qualified than Brown to make such a statement? He spent 27 seasons in the NBA and is the only coach to win NCAA and NBA championships.
