KU basketball adds Goddard, Kan., native Tucker Vang as walk-on
Tucker Vang, a 6-foot-2 guard from Goddard, Kan., will join the Kansas men’s basketball team as a walk-on, KU coach Bill Self announced Monday morning.
Vang, who practiced last season with the KU women’s team, will be listed as a junior on the roster.
“We’ve been able to watch him from afar,” Self said. “I think he’ll be a nice addition and will give us some depth during practice.”
Vang went through walk-on tryouts two years ago and kept in touch with the coaches after that. At Goddard, he averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds while earning all-league honors.
“As a little kid, I always wanted to put on a KU jersey and be a part of something like that,” Vang said. “Now I get the opportunity to live it.”
Vang has family history with KU’s athletic programs, as his father and uncle both played for the football team in the 1990s.
