Kansas freshman Kelly Oubre was selected the Big 12 newcomer of the week Monday for the second time, following a week in which he averaged 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
Oubre, who has started Kansas’ last eight games, is averaging 10.3 points and 5.5 rebounds in four conference games. Oubre was also selected the newcomer of the week on Dec. 22. The ninth-ranked Jayhawks, who lost on Saturday night at Iowa State, face No. 22 Oklahoma on Monday night at Allen Fieldhouse.
Oklahoma junior guard Buddy Hield was selected Big 12 player of the week after averaging 24.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists against two top-25 opponents. The Sooners suffered a 21-point loss at No. 16 West Virginia before notching a 17-point victory over No. 24 Oklahoma State.
