Note: WVU statistics entering Friday’s game

▪ WHEN/WHERE: 5 p.m. Saturday at the Sprint Center

▪ TV/RADIO: ESPN; KCSP (610 AM)

▪ ABOUT KANSAS (29-4): The top-ranked Jayhawks have won 13 straight games headed into Saturday’s championship. KU has won more Big 12 Tournament championships (nine) than any other league team, tripling up second-place Oklahoma and Iowa State, who have three each. Forward Perry Ellis appears to be a lock for the all-tournament team win or lose, as he’s averaged 20.5 points and five rebounds in KU’s victories over Kansas State and Baylor.

▪ ABOUT WEST VIRGINIA (26-7): The ninth-ranked Mountaineers advanced to the Big 12 Tournament championship with a dramatic 69-67 victory over Oklahoma on Friday night. West Virginia won the game after a replay review, as Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield’s half-court shot to win it was waved off after officials deemed it was released after time had expired. The Mountaineers split their meetings with the Jayhawks this year, winning 74-63 in Morgantown on Jan. 12 before falling in Lawrence, 75-65, on Feb. 9. Guard Jevon Carter lifted West Virginia on Friday, scoring 26 points while making 6 of 9 three-pointers.
