Kansas football coach David Beaty officially added another assistant coach to his staff on Wednesday, announcing the hire of new offensive-line coach Zach Yenser, who spent the previous two seasons in the same position at Cal.

Yenser’s hire was expected after Beaty hired Cal receivers coach Rob Likens to be the Jayhawks’ new offensive coordinator. Likens and Yenser worked together both at Cal and Louisiana Tech. Beaty has now formally announced the hiring of seven assistant coaches, leaving two assistant openings on the staff.

“We are thrilled to have Zach join our staff,” Beaty said. “He is full of energy, enthusiasm and passion for the game. The production of his players at both Louisiana Tech and Cal has been extraordinary. His players love and respect him, and that is important to me. Much like the rest of our staff, Zach is a man of great integrity and characte,r and we are happy to have him leading our offensive-line unit.”

Yenser, a native of Marietta, Ga., was a four-year starter at Troy during 2003-06. He also had short coaching tenures at Troy, Henderson State and in the high school ranks.
