Lindsay Vollmer’s NCAA title defense is over.

Vollmer, a Kansas junior, withdrew from the NCAA heptathlon competition on Friday after suffering an injury in the long jump in Eugene, Ore. The injury came on Vollmer’s last long jump attempt. She will miss the final two events in the seven-event heptathlon.

One year ago, Vollmer emerged onto the scene on the same track in Eugene, becoming the first individual NCAA outdoor champion in the history of the KU women’s program. The NCAA title helped the KU women claim their NCAA team title in program history.
