KU notes: Landen Lucas sits out Loyola victory with a toe injury
Kansas junior big man Landen Lucas missed Tuesday’s victory against Loyola (Md.) with a sprained big toe, KU coach Bill Self said. Lucas should be available to play Saturday against Harvard.
“We think he’ll practice Thursday,” Self said. “He hasn’t practiced since we got back (from the Maui Invitational). He wanted to play today. But I told him, and our trainer did, too, ‘Why would we risk having a little bit of a setback?’ ”
Lucas’ absence came as freshman big man Cheick Diallo made his season debut. Lucas is averaging 6.2 points in 13.4 minutes per game.
Ellis nurses sore hip
Senior forward Perry Ellis has also been bothered by a minor hip issue. Self, though, said the injury shouldn’t bother Ellis moving forward.
