KU coach Bill Self says Cheick Diallo will travel to Maui Invitational

Kansas men’s basketball coach Bill Self announced Friday that freshman forward Cheick Diallo has been cleared to travel with Jayhawks basketball team to the Maui Invitational.

According to a news release, Self said a waiver from the NCAA was granted to allow Diallo the opportunity to travel with the team but there has been no indication that he will be eligible to play in the event.

Diallo has yet to be cleared by the NCAA Eligibility Center. If a ruling comes next week, he could play in games in Maui. Diallo has been practicing with the Jayhawks.

Self said Thursday that he was hopeful a ruling could come next week.
