Oklahoma starting quarterback Trevor Knight will miss Saturday’s game against Kansas, Sooners coach Bob Stoops announced on Monday.

Knight was injured in the fourth quarter of a blowout loss to Baylor on Nov. 8, suffering a reported transient quadriplegia, a spine injury caused by hyperextension of the neck. Knight, a sophomore, didn’t play in Oklahoma’s 42-30 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday. Backup Cody Thomas finished 10-of-20 passing for 133 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions.

Before his injury, Knight was completing 58 percent of his pass attempts while throwing for 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions. The Jayhawks, 3-7, will travel to No. 23 Oklahoma, 7-3, for an 11 a.m. kickoff.

Mundine earns honor

KU senior tight end Jimmay Mundine is one of eight semifinalists for the John Mackey Award, which honors the nation’s best tight end.

Mundine, who had seven catches for a career-high 137 yards in Kansas’ 34-30 loss to TCU, has recorded 40 catches for 537 yards through 10 games.
