Three Kansas women’s soccer players were chosen first-team all-Big 12 on Monday: senior Caroline Van Slambrouck and juniors Liana Salazar and Ashley Williams.

Salazar, a midfielder who was a unanimous selection, was on the first team for the second straight year. She scored a team-leading 11 goals, second in the league. Williams was second on KU with seven goals.

Van Slambrouck, a central defender, helped KU hold Big 12 opponents to 12 goals, the fewest in the league.

Senior midfielder Jamie Fletcher was a second-team selection, and freshman defender Kayla Morrison made the all-newcomer team.

KU, which finished the regular season 15-4, is the No. 3 seed in the Big 12 tournament that starts Wednesday at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City. The Jayhawks play No. 6 seed Oklahoma at 8 p.m. The semifinals are Friday and the championship match is Sunday.
