KU’s Andrew Wiggins receives second-team All-America honors from basketball coaches
Andrew Wiggins’ college career is most likely over, but the Kansas freshman is still racking up postseason honors.
Wiggins was selected second-team All-America by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the NABC announced on Wednesday. The selection marks the 34th time a KU player has appeared on one of the NABC’s All-American teams.
Wiggins, who had just four points in KU’s season-ending loss to Stanford on Sunday, finished with 597 points this year, surpassing the KU freshman record of 589 points set last season by Ben McLemore. Wiggins finished the season averaging 17.1 points and 5.9 rebounds while shooting 44.8 percent from the floor.
Wichita State senior forward Cleanthony Early joined Wiggins on the second team, while sophomore point guard Fred VanVleet was selected to the third team.
