ABOUT TEXAS TECH (13-16, 5-11 Big 12):

The last time Kansas faced Texas Tech, the Red Raiders had won three of four and a full house was packing into United Spirit Arena in Lubbock on Feb. 18. They haven’t won since. Texas Tech carries a five-game skid into Wednesday’s matchup with No. 5 Kansas. The stretch includes a four-point home loss to Kansas State and double-digit setbacks at Oklahoma State and Baylor. The Red Raiders are nearly locked into a ninth-place finish in the Big 12. The Jayhawks needed a last-second bucket from Andrew Wiggins to escape Lubbock with a victory, but it should be a different story on Wednesday. KU has won its last four home games against Texas Tech by an average of 33.5 points.

ABOUT KANSAS (22-7, 13-3):

It’s Senior Night at Allen Fieldhouse, a night when Kansas fans stick around to hear the seniors give speeches and soak in some adulation. But it may also be the last home game for freshmen wing Andrew Wiggins and center Joel Embiid, who is out because of a back injury. KU coach Bill Self said he may recognize some other players, but he wants this night be about the seniors, including first-time starters Justin Wesley and Niko Roberts. “We’ve been a pretty tradition-rich program for a long time,” Self said, “and there are certain traditions that I think are worth keeping, and this is not freshman night … it’s Senior Night.” Still, Wiggins has 472 points this season, 12 shy of surpassing Xavier Henry for third on the all-time freshmen scoring list at Kansas. The Jayhawks can bolster their No. 1 seed credentials by finishing strong. Not that Self is paying attention. “If we don’t play well from this point forward,” Self said, “we don’t deserve to be in that conversation.”
