Junior-college running back commits to Jayhawks

Kansas coach Charlie Weis added an intriguing player to his stable of running backs on Monday, picking up a verbal commitment from junior college running back De’Andre Mann, according to Rivals.com.

Mann, a three-star recruit from Hartnell College in Salinas, Calif., should help fill a void left by the departure of senior James Sims, a two-time 1,000-yard rusher. The Jayhawks also return senior Taylor Cox, who redshirted last season, junior Darrian Miller and senior Brandon Bourbon. The Jayhawks are also slated to sign Gardner Edgerton senior running back Traevohn Wrench, a four-star prospect.

Mann, 5 feet 10 and 205 pounds, picked the Jayhawks over Georgia State after earning junior college All-American honors last season. A native of Miami, Mann led the state of California with1,706 yards rushing. He had a scholarship offer list that included Colorado State, New Mexico, Miami (Fla.) and Hawaii.
