Matthew Boateng dismissed from KU football program by coach David Beaty
Three days before the season opener, Kansas coach David Beaty announced the departure of another scholarship player.
Sophomore cornerback Matthew Boateng was dismissed from the KU program, Beaty announced Wednesday.
“Matthew has been dismissed from our program for a violation of team rules,” Beaty said in a release. “We wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Boateng, a sophomore from Toronto, was competing for a backup role in the secondary this season, based on early returns during preseason camp. He appeared in eight games as a true freshman in 2014, finishing the season with nine tackles, one forced fumble and one interception.
At the moment, it appears that juco transfer Brandon Stewart and true freshman Tyrone Miller Jr. will begin the season as the Jayhawks’ starting cornerbacks.
