Former KU forward KJ Adams joins summer league roster in hopes of NBA comeback
Former Kansas men’s basketball forward KJ Adams will continue his comeback from a torn Achilles as a member of the Golden State Warriors’ NBA Summer League team.
The Warriors on Monday revealed a summer roster that includes Adams, a 6-foot-7, 225-pound, 24-year-old forward from Austin, Texas. He worked on Bill Self’s KU support staff as assistant video coordinator during the 2025-26 school year while recovering from surgery.
Adams tore his Achilles in the closing minutes of a first-round NCAA Tournament loss to Arkansas on March 20, 2025. KU coach Self said recently Adams had a successful workout with the Dallas Mavericks.
“He’s not where he needs to be, but he told me he felt pretty good and felt good to be out there and he probably did a little bit better than he had anticipated,” Self said on June 23.
“But yes, he has the ability to do that now,” Self added of Adams working out and playing in games.
Adams, who played on KU’s 2022 NCAA title team, averaged 9.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per game his final season as a Jayhawk.
Other former KU players who will be playing summer league basketball: Darryn Peterson (Utah), Melvin Council Jr. (New Orleans), Hunter Dickinson (New Orleans), Tre White (Miami), Zeke Mayo (Atlanta).
