Kansas Jayhawks freshman guard Corbin Allen, a two-time winner of the DiRenna Award as the top high school player in the Kansas City area, has decided to place his name in the NCAA transfer portal.

Allen, a 6-foot-5, 175-pound graduate of Oak Park High School and men’s basketball player for KU in 2025-26, told The Star he’d filled out all paperwork to place his name in the portal.

He told The Star his “recruitment is 100% open.”

Allen signed a financial aid agreement with KU on May 20, 2025. He redshirted the 2025-26 season and has four years of eligibility remaining.

Allen was a three-time first-team all-state pick in high school. He was the first player in Oak Park High School history to surpass 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in his career.

As a senior, he led Oak Park to the Missouri large class state title. Coached by former KU guard Sherron Collins, Oak Park went 31-1. Allen averaged averaged 16.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in 2024-25.

As a junior at Oak Park, Allen averaged 17.5 points, 8.0 rebounds 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals. In 2023-24, Collins’ first season as Oak Park head coach, the Northmen posted a 27-5 record and advanced to the Missouri Class 6 state tournament semifinals.

Allen this past season said he chose KU is “because it’s one of the best basketball schools in the world. It’s close to home and it’s a good opportunity for me to compete against the best talent and learn from the best coaches.”

He said he enjoyed “the atmosphere of the games (in Allen Fieldhouse).”

Allen told KUathletics.com his favorite KU player of all time was Devonté Graham, while “Ochai Agbaji was in my top three for sure.” Agbaji also graduated from Oak Park.

The transfer portal officially opened April 7 and will close on Tuesday. Players do not have to commit to a new school by the April 21 deadline. They only need to submit their name, through their current school’s compliance office, by that date.

Other KU players who have decided to transfer via the portal: Elmarko Jackson (Georgetown), Bryson Tiller (Missouri), Jamari McDowell (Wake Forest), Samis Calderon (Butler) and Flory Bidunga (Louisville).

Freshman Paul Mbiya recently told The Star he’d decided to enter his name in the portal, but has not yet entered. On Tuesday, he told The Star he was undecided about a return to KU for a second season.

Senior Jayden Dawson has entered the portal while seeking another year of eligibility.

Kohl Rosario said he will return to KU for a sophomore season. Darryn Peterson has completed his one-and-done season at KU.

KU has a recruiting class of incoming freshmen Taylen Kinney, Davion Adkins, Luke Barnett and Trent Perry. The No. 1 player in the class of 2026, Tyran Stokes, has an official list of KU, Kentucky and Oregon.

KU has added one player from the portal thus far, in former Utah forward Keanu Dawes.
