  • Kansas loses six defensive players to the transfer portal, affecting depth.
  • Nine Jayhawks overall are expected to enter the portal after the season.
  • Losses include starter Lyrik Rawls and depth linebacker Jon Jon Kamara.

The Kansas Jayhawks have already been hit with a wave of likely offseason departures, with the latest coming Monday.

Linebacker Logan Brantley became the most recent Jayhawk to announce he will enter the transfer portal in a social media post.

“With careful thought, prayer, and reflection, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining,” Brantley wrote on X. “I am extremely grateful to the University of Kansas for the opportunity to grow both on and off the field, to my coaches and teammates for the relationships, lessons and memories that will stay with me forever, and to the city of Lawrence for the support and love shown along the way.”

Brantley was a depth piece for KU, playing 53 snaps on defense this past season. He played in three games, finishing with eight tackles and half a sack.

The Jayhawks will be losing several names from the defense, some of them fairly notable, too.

Brantley is the ninth KU player to enter the portal, and the third linebacker to do so. He joins Jon Jon Kamara and JaCorey Stewart from that group.

Of the nine transfers, six are on defense. The Jayhawks are also set to lose transfer departures Lyrik Rawls and Damani Maxson, both of whom are safeties, plus cornerback Jameel Croft Jr.

The two biggest transfer departures are Rawls and Kamara. Rawls started for the Jayhawks, making 73 total tackles, breaking up seven passes and recording one interception while playing in every game.

Kamara was a depth piece but was seen as a potential future standout of the linebackers room. He had 13 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks in 2025.

Alongside the portal departures, Kansas (5-7, 3-6 Big 12) has 33 graduating seniors, including longtime starting quarterback Jalon Daniels.
