Kansas basketball coach Bill Self says he isn’t planning on adding any players to the roster during the upcoming holiday break.
“As of today, no. I don’t want to say never, because in today’s world there could be something that could fall in your lap or out of the sky that may be attractive,” Self said Monday at a news conference held in advance of Tuesday’s nonconference game against Towson.
That contest will tip at 8 p.m. at Allen Fieldhouse.
The 2025-26 roster currently consists of 16 players, which includes three walk-ons.
The Jayhawks will be playing host to a prospect in the class of 2026 on Tuesday, a player who would not be eligible for competition until the 2026-27 season. Trent Lincoln, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound sophomore guard from Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, Florida, is averaging 20 points, 6.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds for Gulf Coast (14-1). He has made 44.3% of his shots, including 34% from 3.
Lincoln, who is originally from Baltimore, will have two years of eligibility remaining starting with the 2026-27 season.
Lincoln averaged 11.8 points and 5.0 assists per game as a freshman at Chipola College. He is a graduate of Wharton High in Tampa, Florida.
He will visit TCU on Wednesday and also is considering UTSA, San Diego, UMass and others.
“He emerged as one of the top prospects at July’s All-American JUCO Showcase, where the nation’s top 2026 JUCO prospects competed head-to-head during the July live recruiting period. Lincoln earned Top 20 All-Star Game honors at the event,” wrote Brad Winton of jucorecruiting.com.
Of Lincoln’s game, Winton wrote: “Lincoln has separated himself as the top JUCO prospect in the 2026 class, playing with poise, control, and maturity on both ends of the floor. He is trusted to shoulder the scoring load while also functioning as one of the nation’s most effective distributors. The 6-3 lefthanded guard consistently pressures the defense by attacking the rim, shooting the three with deep range, and making high-level reads offensively.
“He owns an explosive first step, finishes through contact, and uses his body, anticipation, and quick hands to impact the game defensively.”
KU has signed high school senior guards Luke Barnett and Taylen Kinney, as well as wing Trent Perry and forward Davion Adkins. KU also has a commitment from class of 2027 guard Javon Bardwell.
