It didn’t take long for the Kansas Jayhawks football program to make the most of national signing day.

KU had locked in 18 new players as of early Wednesday morning — 17 high school prospects and one transfer in its 2026 recruiting class — as the national signing period began.

The one player who remained unsigned was three-star running back KD Jones, who could reportedly flip his commitment to Oklahoma State.

The Jayhawks’ 2026 class currently ranks No. 54 in 247Sports’ composite rankings. KU’s incoming class ranks No. 12 in the Big 12.

KU has made a push of late with more in-state recruiting. Head coach Lance Leipold has signed six recruits from Kansas, all of whom ranked within the top-15 in the state.

“I thought we stayed the course when we came here, we said we wanted to do that (recruit more in-state) - we wanted to make sure the area coaches knew that we were serious,” Leipold said. “I think that with the two bowl games, the commitment to facilities... the job that our staff has done, our recruit staff.

“When people come back here multiple times, we get a lot of compliments here about the thoroughness, the genuineness (and) transparency in which we operate.”

KU’s only four-star recruit is tackle Kaden Snyder from Salina. Snyder ranks No. 3 in the state.

With the departure of 33 seniors to graduation, the Jayhawks will have to use the transfer portal to fill a number of starting spots next season.
