Former University of Kansas and Schlagle High School guard Tyon Grant-Foster has decided to play his final season of college basketball at Gonzaga, he announced Wednesday on his Instagram page.

Grant-Foster, who played for KU during the 2020-21 season, was available for just one game at DePaul in 2021-22 because of a heart problem. After recovering from surgery, he played the past two seasons at Grand Canyon University.

The 2024 WAC player of the year averaged 14.8 points and 5.9 rebounds a game in 2024-25. He shot 39.9% from the field and 23.2% from 3-point range in 26 games. He averaged 20.1 points and 6.1 rebounds in 2023-24 at GCU. He played two years at Indian Hills CC before his one season at KU.

The 6-foot-7, 240-pound Grant-Foster is waiting for a waiver from the NCAA which could allow him this final year of eligibility.

Grant-Foster, 25, according to On3.com is the third transfer set to be joining Gonzaga this season, following former Arizona State guard Adam Miller and former Virginia guard Jalen Warley.

“It’s an amazing basketball situation,” Grant-Foster told Eric Bossi of 247Sports.com, referring to Gonzaga. “One of the best, if not the best, college coaches in the country (in Mark Few). I know this is a place I can go get better in a real way and continue to win at a high level, and it’s been proven through their development of NBA-level wings.”
