Kansas Jayhawks remain ranked in Associated Press Top 25 after loss to Utah
Kansas men’s basketball has dropped from No. 17 to No. 23 in this week’s Associated Press men’s basketball poll.
The preseason No. 1-ranked Jayhawks, who lost to Utah 74-67 on Saturday in Salt Lake City, on Monday fell six slots heading into Tuesday’s 8 p.m. Central contest at BYU.
The Jayhawks this week had been in danger of being unranked in the Associated Press poll for the first time since the 2020-21 season. KU, which has lost four of its last seven games and has seen its record fall to 17-8, last was left out of the top 25 on Feb. 8, 2021.
It was one poll only, and Kansas was ranked No. 24 on Feb. 15, 2021. The Jayhawks have been ranked ever since, 80 weeks, as of Monday.
In fact, Kansas has been ranked 310 of the last 311 polls dating to Feb. 2, 2009. Kansas’ current streak is the second longest active streak behind Houston’s 100.
Meanwhile, the Missouri Tigers at 19-6 are ranked No. 15 this week. The Tigers improved six slots from a week ago.
The top 10 consists of Auburn, Florida, Duke, Alabama, Houston, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Iowa State, Texas Tech and St. John’s. Big 12 newcomer Arizona is No. 19 this week.
The Jayhawks still have remaining games vs. Arizona, Texas Tech and Houston.
