Kansas Jayhawks land 4-star wide receiver Jaden Nickens. He’s a 2-sport athlete
The Kansas Jayhawks football program landed a significant recruit on Thursday.
Jaden Nickens, a four-star wide receiver from Sierra Canyon High School in Southern California, announced his commitment to KU on a 247Sports live stream.
Nickens picked Kansas over Georgia, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State and Cal.
He’s the Jayhawks’ 16th high school commitment from the class of 2025, and fourth receiver.
A 6-foot-3, 195-pound two-sport athlete, Nickens was initially committed to Oklahoma. That changed in March. Until this season, he played for Douglass High School in Oklahoma.
He also plays basketball and will join Bill Self’s KU men’s hoops team.
In his OU de-commitment announcement, he stated his intention to play both sports in college.
“I want to be a dual-sport Student Athlete!” he said then. “I have faith in myself and God that this is part of his will.”
Nickens’ commitment is significant, as KU’s three starting wide receivers, Luke Grimm, Quentin Skinner and Lawrence Arnold, will depart the program after this season.
