Former Kansas Jayhawks quarterback Jason Bean picked No. 1 overall in UFL draft

Former Kansas Jayhawks quarterback Jason Bean was drafted No. 1 overall on Wednesday, albeit not by an NFL team.

The UFL’s Memphis Showboats selected Bean with the first overall pick in the 2024 UFL College Draft. In last year’s XFL (USFL and XFL combined leagues recently) draft, KU had three players selected: Malcolm Lee, Sam Burt, and Lorenzo McCaskill.

At the moment, Bean remains signed with the Indianapolis Colts. Bean joined the Colts after going undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft.

In his last season with the Jayhawks, Bean led KU to a 9-4 record and its first bowl victory since 2008. He ended last season with 2,130 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions. He added 280 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Before his time with the Jayhawks, Bean played at North Texas. In eight games in 2020, he totaled 19 touchdowns (14 passing) and five interceptions, throwing for 1,131 yards.
