KU football lands juco linebacker Kurtis Taufa of Snow College

The Kansas football program is continuing to tap into a growing pipeline in Utah.

Kurtis Taufa, a linebacker at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, committed to Kansas this weekend, becoming the third Snow football player to join the Jayhawks’ 2016 recruiting class.

The commitment was first reported by Jon Kirby of Rivals.com.

Offensive lineman Joe Malanga and defensive end Manaia Perese previously committed to Kansas from Snow. Taufa, who had previously committed to Utah, becomes the ninth known commitment in KU’s 2016 recruiting class. KU assistant coach Kenny Perry has served as the main conduit to Snow, having perviously coached as a Snow assistant coach in high school.

Taufa, who is listed at 6 feet 2 and 235 pounds, had 55 tackles and 10 sacks during his freshman season at Snow College. In 2016, he’ll join a linebacking corps that is in rebuilding mode after the graduation of Ben Heeney and the retirement of Jake Love for health reasons.
