Junior forward David Joplin was 5-of-11 from 3 and scored 19 points. Senior forward Oso Ighodaro had 14 points. Senior guard Tyler Kolek had nine assists, nine points and five boards. …Marquette also has defeated Illinois, 71-64, in Champaign, Ill., and has won home games versus Rider, 95-65, and Northern Illinois, 92-70. … Former Texas Longhorns coach Shaka Smart is 52-20 in three seasons as Marquette coach. … Marquette is making its fourth appearance (2007, 2021, 2017, 2023) in the Maui Invitational. The Golden Eagles are 7-3 overall in the event.
